The gold standard for muscle testing

An Isokinetic Dynamometer is a device that is used to assess and measure muscle performance through measures of torque. The device identifies weaknesses, left-to-right imbalances and same side imbalances such as quadricep to hamstring strength ratios.

Isokinetic Dynamometry testing is beneficial for a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and their rehabilitation protocols. Testing informs the approach to rehabilitation to allow a specifically tailored rehabilitation program based on areas of strength and weakness.

Who needs testing?

Isokinetic dynamometry testing is important for a wide range of injuries and conditions including, but not limited to:

  • ACL injury and post-reconstruction

  • Total knee replacement and hip replacement

  • Injury screening

  • General musculoskeletal injury such as hamstring, quadricep and shoulder injuries

  • Tendinopathy

  • Chronic pain

  • Chronic disease such as: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer and cardiovascular disease

  • Athletic development and performance
